Hammerli AP20 Pro Silver vs Blue body, Silver vs Black Cylendar

Hi all -
First time poster here, thanks for being such an incredible reference for a new shooter!

I purchased a Hammerli AP20 Pro, and unlike almost every picture I have seen online, it arrived with a blue body, and a black air cylendar. Does anyone know if this is a new colorway, or a different model of the AP20 pro? The only blue versions I have seen has been on a European vendor sight and on carl-walther.com itself. Essentially, I just want to be sure there were no recent updates and that I'm not holding an older version of this pistol.

Also, unrelated, is it safe/possible to fill the cylendar directly with my GX CS3-I pump? Or am I supposed to go to a tank between the two? The manual doesn’t seem to say anything about this.

Thanks for any help you can offer

We have both in our group (standard AP-20's). From what I can tell there is no difference, other than color. The blue version with the black cylinders is the newer version. I would not worry, with either version. They are quite reliable air pistols.

Thank you for the response, that is helpful info.

Do you have any experience pumping the calendars directly from an electric air pump? Or do you guys go from a tank? I’m hoping it is safe to pump directly from my electrical air pump but I thought I read somewhere that this is not advised.

We use tanks connected to a filling station. A small "high pressure" air pump should be fine as long as you do not overfill. Max pressure is 200 BAR, or about 2900 psi.

Also note, the manuals shipping with the two different versions of the air pistol are all dated 2012. You might look on the back of your manual. I have seen no changes in parts schematics, either.

Great, I will definitely not be pushing the psi to the absolute limit, so sounds good.

Thanks for the picture. I have the pro model, but I’m quite sure the mechanics are the exact same outside of the tank justification and grip.

That’s a good idea on the manual, mine is 2012 as well, so if blue is newer it’s clear that still nothing has really changed.

This has been a huge help, much appreciated and happy holidays!

A small tip. When filling, go a little over (say 3100 PSI). The cylinder will cool to around 2900PSI.

Thanks Rover.

I actually ordered this

which is meant to allow bleeding wihtout having to loosen the cylendar first. Seems like a good solution, hopefully!

The fill adapter works well. I hated having to unscrew the original under pressure. Don't know why they don't include this type from the factory
