Can somebody please weigh their CO2 powered LP1?
For some reason I think it's much heavier than the PCP version. I have the manual, it says 1110g with steel cylinder, that would be a whole lot more than the ~970g it weighs on my scale

Liquid CO2 naturally weighs more than air. A load of CO2 in a standard steel Steyr cylinder weighs 60-65 grams. Air weighs a fraction of that. Maybe 5 grams... not sure, as my Steyr PCP pistols have aluminum cylinders, an apples to oranges comparison.

Nice to see we both have ancient CO2 powered Steyrs. My LP1-P weighs 883 grams with a full load of CO2. Of course, it's missing 105 useless grams of decorative barrel shroud/sleeve.

Found out that 0.240kg is imprinted on CO2 cylinders. Then I add 60-65g of CO2 to it then?

So, the weight must be:
800g LP1 without the cylinder (on my scale), a lot of putty on my grip, which adds some weight.
1040g with cylinder
1100g with cylinder filled

As far as I *remember* the LP! CO2 (black cylinder) was around 1.150 grams. So it was heavy and also "nosy". The LP! CO2 (alu silver cylinder) was something less than 1.050 grams. -s.

Made me curious. Normally either cylinder capacity or total weight is what is engraved on a CO2 cylinder. Searched and found:

And Page 22-23 says the maximum total weight is what should be engraved on the cylinder.

So, I understand it as you put your cylinder on a scale and fill until total weight is 0.240kg.

Each CO2 cylinder, regardless of length or material construction, has a "Tara" weight stamped on it, along with a line below, labelled "KOHLENDIOXID" (German for CO2) indicating how much CO2 to add for a full cylinder.

However...

Among the 5 cylinders I have of all types (I just inspected them), the actual "Tara (tare)" weight always varied wildly from the stamping, probably a difference in what the Steyr scale said and what my personal scale said. Accordingly, I always emptied a new cylinder to weigh on my scale. I would place a round sticker on the end of the cylinder with that personal scale value written on it. That is my NEW tare weight. Then I fill the cylinder with the suggested fill weight. Following this, I then weigh the filled cylinder, then write that value on the end cylinder sticker. These minimum and maximum values then become your guide for each cylinder.

I have found you can add around 5 grams more CO2 than the stamped amount and the cylinder will function fine. Not necessary for the long cylinders, but sometimes a good idea for the short ones to by sure you have enough CO2 for a match plus sighters. Too much CO2 and you will know, because you will get valve lock and an anemic sounding shot. Experiment with each cylinder to find the ideal fill amount.

The 5 CO2 cylinders I have are stamped...

Long Steel: .325kg (325 grams) add .053kg (53 grams) of CO2 = 378 grams total..... Actual tare weight on my scale: 310 grams
Long Steel: .325kg (325 grams) add .053kg (53 grams) of CO2 = 378 grams total..... Actual tare weight on my scale: 318 grams
Short Steel: .290kg (290 grams) add .43kg (43 grams) of CO2 = 333 grams total.......Actual tare weight on my scale: 285 grams
Short Steel: .303kg (303 grams) add .43kg (43 grams) of CO2 = 346 grams total......Actual tare weight on my scale: 293 grams
Short ALUM: .167kg (167 grams) add .43kg (43 grams) of CO2 = 210 grams total......Actual tare weight on my scale: 178 grams (I regularly shot it with 221-225 grams full)

So you see, factory markings and what you observe at home WILL vary considerably.

It is pointless to shoot the CO2 Steyr without owning your own personal scale, 3-5kg range will weigh complete pistols and any component less like cylinders, 1 gram resolution is fine. Less than $30 at Save-on-scales.com (kitchen scales)... http://www.saveonscales.com/

As noted earlier, this LP1-P CO2 weighs only 883 grams with full load of CO2... Short of an LP2 Compact (PCP), I don't know of any Steyr that is lighter...

I made this chart.......way back when the wife and I shot LP1's. My pistol was an early one I bought used and came with three different steel cylinders. One of my cylinders is dated 2/91. Of course we still have all this stuff!
I'm not sure what I penciled in on the chart. And my chart was for approximate values. We always shot a match with full cylinders.

No such stampings on any of my five cylinders. Mine are marked in grams (actually kg), which I understand is universal. What weight standard is being used for 1140?

Must be tare and full weight of the pistol itself, in grams.
