“We came across a new MG4 ACP with a double fire issue. The ammo we used was custom loaded. Jon did a thorough on all the trigger setting screws. The pistol still fired two shots consecutively sometimes.
After Jon took a careful look inside the pistol frame, he saw the front bottom side of the release lever (pn2044) was touching the upper rear end of the trigger holder or trigger bar (pn 2031, portagrilletto) when the trigger was pulled all the way to the back. Please see the attached drawing cropped from the user manual.
Jon used a Dremel grinder to remove a small metal from the front bottom surface of the release lever. The upper arrow in the attached drawing points to this surface. This solved the double fire issue.
Good luck in fixing the double fire issue.”

Recently repaired a pistol that doubled and tripled. I removed the sear. Filed 0.010” off the bottom where the disconnector slot is. The trigger bar was hitting it after firing. Wasn’t clearly resetting in my opinion. Worked perfectly afterwards. I’ve done this twice since 2017.

(the above diagram of the trigger parts provides clarification. The difference in what the parts are called can be confusing, because the release lever (2044) can also be called a sear. There are several parts and functions in some pistols that differ in name but do the same thing in manuals and discussion between the US and Europe terminology.
My MG4 was initially manufactured as a 32 S&W Long. Jon made a 32 ACP conversion kit (barrel and extractor). I received it from Jon as a 32 ACP. It initially worked great but then started doubling. After several attempts trying to adjust the trigger and a great many different loads, I finally gave up and reinstalled the initial 32 S&W Long barrel and extractor.
I have tried several different 32 S&W Long loads without success. The one exception thus far was a 2-grain load of Bullseye with a T&B 100-grain Round Nose Flat Point bullet. That seems to work ok altho I am not ready to commit to it for Precision Pistol matches.
Once MatchGuns gets their act together and everything returns to normal, I will probably try the ACP version again. I hesitate to do so now due to the unavailability of parts should I need to replace any.
I do have a question regarding the MatchGunsUSA post – what was the 32 ACP “custom load” mentioned? That may be a critical factor.
Jon had earlier recommended a load of 1.6 BE or N310 with a 78-grain Round Nose bullet when I got the pistol. Didn't work for me but then I haven't yet worked on the bottom of the "release lever/sear".
