Best Pellets To Use In The Daisy Avanti?

Post by Matt »

To those that have machine-rested (or extensively tested) the Daisy Avanti:
Which pellet have you found to be the most accurate?

We tested 3 Valiants and 1 888 before the 2004 Junior Olympic 3P National Championship, and didn't find 1 brand of pellet that all of the Valiants liked (we tested 5 or 6). One liked Vogel green 4.495, one liked H&N, the other liked the CMP Vogels (sport - orange). None of the groups were as good as the worst group from the 888. We also tested the old Daisy CMP training pellets, which did surprisingly well in the 888. I think the best 888 group was with the CMP Vogels.

So really, you have to test each gun individually. Keep in mind that each lot of the same pellet will differ also.

For regular training and local matches we use Crosman wadcutter match pellets, for the more important matches we use mostly Vogel Sport.

I haven't tested any Avanti's.

I have tested several other air rifles. And like small bores they are all individuals. Also pellets vary by lot just like small bore ammo does.

You really need to test your gun with pellets available to you.
