Which Free Pistol to Buy?

I am looking into buying a free pistol and was wondering what type I should buy. The only type I have shot is the Steyr that Pilk has listed on his website, and I enjoyed shooting that one. I was wanting some input on what type of free pistol should I look into buying.

You are quite limited as to new FP's---Steyr is no longer manufactured---TOZ---Pardini---Morini---FP10. It is a crap shoot IMHO---the price of TOZ is great ( the gun has issues) the gun is a great gun needs to be tweaked. Pardini, is a stranger to me---I have seen a few around---no known complaints. Morini is touted as the equivalent of the second coming, I have used the gun and I own the AP 162E. IMHO if I didn't own a Hammerli 160 Special I would have a Morini on my side of the firing line. The "Hammerli" FP10 does not have good press---the "old"models had trigger issues----the new models supposedly have cured this ailment---???? As to used guns---there again it's a crap shoot---why was it sold???? Good Luck.

If I had a free hand I'd almost certainly opt for the morini. However being in the UK and having a requirement for fairly substantial grip modifications I had to opt for the Pardini. I like it and it shoots really well (shame I can't quite match it <g> ).

Well, I would suggest you the Morini CM 84. For me is the «state of the art» on Free Pistols. That's what I'm using now and I'm fully satisfied with it. Your only concearn is to keep an eye on the electronic trigger batteries from time to time to prevent them from running out during a match. The grips are excellent, hardly stressing your wrist, and the pistol gives you a follow-through feeling almost perfect.
As an alternative I would go for the TOZ 35 with Morini grips as they really make the difference from the factory ones. Besides you don't have to deal with electronics and the pistol will last you a lifetime. I used to shoot with one and for me it performs almost as good as the Morini, yet for 2/3 of the price.
Here in Portugal, Europe, we tend now to buy Morinis. Anyway both are best values when it comes to Free Pistols.
