Bought a used Pardini SP........(NOT the NEW pardini SP).......wondering what effect using buffers will have on cycling, whether or not I can use them without changing anything else , their effect on maintaining dependability, and their effect on performance (recoil reduction).........thanks

Some buffers don't work all that well

Hi,

When I purchased a used SPE in '86 it had buffers both front and rear.

The front buffer was simply an o ring slipped over the barrel to soften the bolt forward stop. It worked well. Mainly I used it in the winter indoor leagues. Cool temps, low humidity etc. When I was invited to The Masters in 1990, I used that for the precision event. It was about 95 degrees F w/ about 90% humidity. The o ring swelled because of this and the pistol began to misfire. The event consists of 30 record shots, I had 13 "misses" resulting from misfires. needless to say, I didn't do too well.

After the event I took the o ring off the barrel and slipped it over the battery tube of the aimpoint to remind me to always test everything before going to a big match.

My 2 cents,

Tom
