A few days ago I shot my first competition match. I was invited by a member of a local gun club to come shoot. When I arrived I was under the impression I was going to shoot a Bullseye match. But it turned out that It was a Standard Pistol Match. At first I was reluctant but I went ahead a shot the match. Everyone was very helpful and friendly, and I was very impressed with the match and all of the participants. Before this I had no knowledge of International or Olympic style shooting and this was an interesting and enjoyable experience. I was told I didn't do too bad for a first time shooter. I was using a stock ruger MKII with Federal gold medal target ammo. I got a 473 out of 600. I am definitely hooked. In fact this match has sparked an interest in me and I might just try out some of the other disciplines in the future. This was a welcome change from just going to the local range and shooting. I just thought I would post my experience and let everyone know that a new shooter has joined the ranks. Everyone have a great weekend.

I stand corrected Mr. Poole you are right. I need to come out more often so I can tell the difference between the matches. Will you be at the 900 match on tuesday? I plan on attending. Have a good one and thank you again for the use of the Pistol for centerfire, I really appreciate it.
