CISM rifles

Hello,

I've been seeing some centerfire rifles from companies like Bleiker, G&E, Izmash-Baikal, etc. that are chambered for rounds like .308 Win., 6mm BR, 6.5x55mm Swede, etc. that are listed as 'CISM' rifles, w/ configurations that appear to be pretty close to what I would expect to see for say, a NRA HighPower XTC bolt action match rifle, including magazine fed.

Can somebody give me a general overview of what is the arena that these rifles are targeted for? What is 'CISM' shooting, what are the targets like, what is the course of fire i.e. rounds, distance, time limits, positions, etc.?

I've started googling for some information, but so far what I've found (in English) seems to kind of assume I already know what CISM shooting is...

Thanks,

Monte

I remember reading somewhere that international centerfire rifles are allowed a greater depth of the forend than NRA and hence are not usable without modification. But I am not certain.

A space gun or a TUBB would be cheaper and more recognizable in NRA HP.
