The scoring rings are divided up into tenths. A perfect shot is a 10.9. A shot that barely touches the ten ring is a 10.0 and so on.
Ten individually timed (75 second) shots are fired
and scored for the top 8 shooters. That 10 shot score is added to the match score. The theoretical max is then 600 + 109.0 = 709.0.
It is fun on electronic targets where scores are calculated by the target and posted immediately.
There are hand held (slow) gauges with a vernier type scale.
