Slightly off topic but...

Post by JLK »

Last night at the indoor range I saw a WWII era German .22lr training rifle.
The receiver was marked BSW. The barrel had Kruppe markings.
There were no military proofs that I could see. It was single shot.
Anyone have any idea what it was?
Thanks!

I have a DSM34
Deutsch Sport Modell 1934 I think is what it means, could THAT be the BSW you saw? maybe something Sportt Waffen, in the weimar days they couldn't have military stuff but Sport and Standard were OK
It kinda looks like a K98k
but not as much as a KKW looks like K98k
There are a coupla books on Mausers, Olsen's book has a chapter on the .22's and another I have seen at gun shows is .22's only.
bring your camera next week

Bill,
You are right, it did look like a little Mauser rifle. I got to shoot it a few times and it was alot of fun. It appeared to be in excellent shape although the stock had obviously been sanded. The owner had picked it up at a gun show a couple weeks ago. I believe he said he paid $170 for it.
I will ask him to let me know the next time he brings it out. I WILL bring my camer!
Thanks!
