Pardini SP barrel

How is the barrel retained in the barrel shroud on a Late Pardini SP ?
Is it just some form of locktite ?
Can it be removed with gentle heat ?
Just received a barrel where the chamber looks like it was cut with a steam shovel.
Deep grooves and galling about half way down the chamber and it is causing feed/extraction malfunctions.
Unfortunatly for the owner, it is out of warranty.
Could try re-ream and then polish but I think it will need to be changed.

Could this be long term build-up? Mine gets build-up in this very spot, and if I don't clean the barrel for a while it gets pretty tough and hard to get out, certainly not with a brass brush. I have to use an iosso nylon brush with Big 45 Frontier wool wrapped around it to get this out.

Not saying it's definitely not damaged chamber, but perhaps worth a try unless you've already tried everything?

Yes, they are glued, with something.
But they may also have a screw under the frontsight.

An american Match grade chambering reamer hardly touched the surface, so the chamber was honed to try to smooth and polish.
When tried it worked very well, no more malcunctions and even worked well with CCI.
A little oversize but for Rapidfire that is not a problem.

Could you please clarify what did you use to hone/polish? Did you use the reamer you mentioned, or was it something else?

Chambering reamer did not remove any of the damage.
So with a hardwood mandel wrapped with 800 grit wet/dry and lots of oil, lapped for 15-20seconds.
Then with 1200 grit followed by 1800 grit each 20-30 sec.
Finished with a cotton patch covered with Alum Mag wheel polishing paste.

David how many shots before the result we see in the first picture?
You mentioned a late pardini so i find it quite alarming for pardini's quality.

Greetings,

The Pardini Rapid Fire barrels have different chambers than the SP models.

I had a similar barrel issue some years ago.

I connected it to an Outers Foul Out electronic cleaner and the cleaning light came on.

Several hours later I removed quite a bit of Lead fouling.

Checking with a bore scope, I could see more rifling in the throat area.

Testing the barrel with TENEX produced 1" groups at 50 yards.

By the way, the new Pardini SP barrels are heat treated to 42 HRC.

Cheers,

Dave
