FAS 609

Post by Lawrie »

Does anyone know of an information source regarding the workings of a FAS 609?
As some people will be aware the "Operating Instructions" that come with this gun are basic to say the least, in fact it's an A4 sheet of paper divided in two.
One page has a drawing of numbered parts but no key to what they are! The other half has instructions on trigger settings; (there is another story here but that's much too complicated to go into for now!!!).
I've had a problem with an intermittant air leakage recently and although I appear to have cured it I'm not sure how!
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers, Lawrie

Hi Lawrie,
One of club members' 609 had this problem recently - leaking air through the barrel, right?
The seal on the plunger, under the slotted screw just beneath the barrel (with the cylinder and the round cylinder mounting plate removed), was the problem. When you remove the hollow screw you will find a spring that goes over the plunger and pushes it down to make a seal. The seal on the plunger was the problem. It isn't really an O-ring. Good luck getting the part from FAS.
Luckily, Rob Potter (Warren's brother) from Potter Firearms in Australia (www.potfire.com) suggested using a piece of tubing with the correct internal and external diameters, cut to fit. This is what we used, and it corrected the leaking.
