You guys have probably heard this one, but I've been trying to find a internet dealer who can supply me with a gun box like the ones that you PROs use. At the very least some plans on building one, I'm pretty handy at woodworking.

I love my KK Air, (relatively) light weight steel case ... but I think the Pelican type high impact plastic cases are also very good ... they actually absorb impacts better (for the contents) then steel. Gene and I have the nice ballistic nylon slip covers w/ carrying straps for our KK Airs ... helps protect the finish and makes them less conspicuous at airports ...

I've tried both, prefer the KK Air w/o cover

I'm planning on getting a three-section pistol case for the 2006 World Muzzle-Loading Championships (2004 is in the U.S., 2006 in France) - so I can set up one side for original and repro revolver, then flip the whole setup over and get at the flint and percussion single-shot pistols.
YMMV, of course. Especially if you're not headed all over the world to shoot.

Our cases our relatively small pistol cases ... so no need for wheels ... thus no problem with the slip cover ...

Thanks very much for all your compliments regarding my efforts. The box is a custom design, with a 3" deep top and 8" deep bottom. Normally the top is only 2" deep. ICC offers what they call a "Field Briefcase", intended for a laptop and associated gear. The top of this briefcase has a hinged "door" to keep papers in the top of the case when it is opened. I asked to have this same door put on my top, so that all my small gear would stay in place. In top picture: 32/22
mags, 2 pellet boxes, tool box w/spare parts, spare pcp cylinder, shooting glasses, chalk, and filler yoke. If you look closely, you can see the hinge for the door. Interior of door is covered with foam. In bottom picture (top to bottom): Hammerli 160 with custom pieces (not the Special), Hammerli SP20 in 32 with factory recoil dampening system added, Hammerli 280 in 22 with custom pieces, and last but not least, a FWB P34 with barrel weights. Happy to send pictures of each pistol, if anyone is interested. Both the top (2) and bottom (6) are filled with multiple layers of 1" foam, cut to fit each pistol/accessory precisely. Took about a month, working in the evenings, to finish all the cutting of the foam. Though time consuming, not too difficult. Again, happy to give a step-by-step of the cutting process if anyone is interested. Thanks again for your kind remarks. Let me know if you have any further questions.
