Prepping the trigger

Watching WC shooting, I am seeing some shooters make several attempts at finding the sweet spot for contact on the trigger.
I then see some of them take up the first stage before lifting the gun. While I can see how this might give you a shorter shot sequence on target, I would think it could be disaster waiting to happen.

How many of you prep the first stage before being on target?https://nox.tips/ https://xender.vip/

If you ever want to shoot free pistol, DO NOT train yourself to take up the first stage at least until the pistol is off the bench. I saw somebody put 6 or 8 shots into the dirt at his first free pistol match after being taught to take up the first stage in air pistol when he was on a college team.

Not just free pistol, but anything with a different trigger. It did cost me 15-16 points last week on the long line with 22: 0 and 4 above the center in the series that had only 9s and 10s. I am now in the process of re-wiring my brain and trigger finger :)

On my benelli mp90 I’m on the trigger on the raise (past half way) and I have a habit of twice squeezing the first stage to the second stage stop while lowering on to the target, for me it’s like settling in. I also did it with my lp400 air pistol. When you get to really know your gun you can play with first stage even when trigger weight is ridiculously light.
I have a regulation 1000g second stage pull so I have no fear of an accidental fire.

i lower the muzzle and stop above the bull, in the white - stopping in the white above the bull also helps (me) with final sight alignment because i cannot see the bull that distracts . there i take up the first stage on the air pistol .. multiple times. or just "caress" the trigger on the freepistol, also multiple times.

this way i make sure i grip strong enough so the gun does not wobble when i move the trigger finger (also known as wrist lock) . it also decouples the muscles holding the grip from the muscles moving the trigger finger..so i can press the trigger without moving the gun.
