Benelli Kite Air Pistol Cylinder Dealers in Europe?

Post by Gwhite »

I help coach a collegiate team with 16 Benelli Kites. We need to replace some outdated cylinders. The only US stock I know of is left over from the estate of Larry Carter, and they must be at least 3 or 4 years old already at this point.

I've gotten very good service & prices for other brands of cylinders through Krale, but they don't carry Benelli cylinders. Because the cylinders aren't firearms parts, the export process is simpler, but the seller needs some sort of export license to permit selling without VAT. I found one deale rin England, but they don't export.

Does anyone know of a Benelli air gun dealer in Canada, Europe, or the UK that they would recommend?

Thanks!

I have two cylinders that are just out of date, but work just tine. If you need them for practice only, I'll let you have them both for a song. Message me if you're interested.

Greetings,

A friend uses this firm for Benelli 22lr parts. He might have air gun parts.

How about a rebuild/re-date?

It could happen.

He will sell Benelli some stuff, but he doesn't have an export license, so he has to charge VAT.

As far as I know, the EU law/spec that the ISSF rule is based on is from "manufacture date". There's no process for re-certification the way there is for SCUBA tanks. If a manufacturer wanted to re-use the valve & gauge ends on a new cylinder, they could, but I doubt it's economical for them to do so.

There really is no reason why they should not be able to recertify these air cylinders. Whether it's cost effective to do so is a different issue.

The main reason is that's the way the rules are written.

The economics of recertifying cylinders, or rebuilding them is also questionable. If the cylinders were standardized across manufacturers the way SCUBA tanks are, it would make more sense. As it is, every brand would require a different test setup, which would presumably mean sending them back to the factory.

you can always try 3rd party pcp cylinders like prelutec or 10punkt9 if they can build you benelli cylinders. in their site they dont have them but you can always ask.

also since you have so many kite's and probably the need for more than one cylinder why not ask benelli directly.

I've tried contacting the factory several times in the past about their plans for a US importer after Larry Carter passed away. I never received a reply. I may try again in Italian. I've been using Google translate with some success to communicate with MatchGuns factory.

One more time..... Pressure vessel law reclassified ALL compressed air cylinders under 1/2 liter due to issues with SOLAS inflators in the maritime industry. The issue at the time was external corrosion and the differences in who and how they were visually inspected. There was no consensus on how much corrrosion was repairable and what needed to be condemned. After much teeth gnashing, it was decided to institute a manufacturing date identification requirement that did not previously exist. Additionally, it was decided that any and all cylinders in this class would be end of lifed at 10 years from manufacture. This eliminates any reinspection/recertification of these vessels. Its the law, and it applies to us even though its probably overkill given the sheltered lives our tanks live in, but there isnt a path other than scrap in 10 years. I posted the cites a while back.....

I communicated twice with them in Italian about service of their air pistol products here in the US. No response. I also communicated with Benelli, USA in English and Italian with no response. I'm surprised that they're still marketing air pistols anywhere. Totally irresponsible corporation........

A German outfit called Tec-hro are selling pistol and rifle CA cylinders that are manufactured on demand by, I think, another mob called 10punkt9. Their website shows FWB, Steyr and Walther but might be worth an enquiry to see if they can do the same for the Benellis.

pbrejsa wrote: Wed Jun 16, 2021 10:18 pm the will of the mighty and the foolishness of the people, and in exceptional cases through the law. The rules for the use of cylinders and the time limit are determined only by the manufacturer. The fact that in this case they do not allow a repeated pressure test after 10 years is technically unjustifiable. The cylinder should be decided by an overpressure test. Manufacturers as well as ISSF rulers argue only with test costs, which are significantly lower in primary production. These rules allowed PCP weapon manufacturers to turn cylinders into consumables and in the future another certain possibility of earning in the amount of 15 to 20% of the production price of an air pistol. It really has nothing to do with end-user security. There were some roller accidents, but they were always caused by the material and its incorrect processing or a hidden internal defect, and they manifested themselves much earlier than after 10 years. It has not been and I dare say with high probability that not a single case of rupture will occur in the future more than 10 years from the date of production.
Two cylinders for my SAM10 were rebuilt and re-dated by the factory, so someone knew the rules.

Thanks! Tec-Hro could be useful for other pistols as well. 93 Euros is only $110 US, and that includes tax. Assuming 20% for VAT, that works out to $88. Especially if I need to buy a bunch of cylinders for our Hammerlis & Steyrs, the shipping costs per cylinder will make this a very good deal.

Has anyone used their cylinders? For example, how good are their gages? Any problems with leaks?

Gwhite, I’ve got one on order but have not yet been given a dispatch date. I have bought other stuff from Tec-hro so have no reason to doubt the quality. When you think about it, there is no good reason why these cylinders should cost the king's ransom the pistol manufacturers charge.

Keep us posted. When I get a chance, I'll ask them about the Benellis, and Hammerli AP40's. We've got 22 of the Hammerlis, and although you can still get cylinders from Walther, they are pretty pricey.
