Having a rough time with reflection/glare off my AP sights. Anyone have any solutions?

I tried using a very matte black paint on the sights of one of my really cheap airguns as a test, and it helped a little, but not perfectly. Right now I have to shoot indoors with very dim light in order to prevent glare, particularly on the rear sight. OR turn on all the lights and wear my prescription sunglasses. I get a glare off the top of the blade which makes it very hard for me to accurately aim for elevation. Windage is less a problem.

Any ideas on a treatment or finish I can put on the sights? Right now I have the FAS 6004 with what appears to be a some sort of bluing on the sight blade (the finish is different on the sight than on the rest of the pistol).

As a result, the perfect solution is to blacken the sights with a blackening lighter. A paraffin candle can be used under ideal conditions. The disadvantage is that it must be done - repeat at the beginning before each shooting and that it is an open flame.

Those carbide smokers are a real PIA. Go to church and steal a couple of small votive candles. You can smoke your sights and those all around you for free. Works good!

I'll see how the spray paint works! ;-)

Another option would be to leverage a piece of lit masking tape, it smokes well. I have a super smoker, cool concept but it tends to eat through your carbide very fast, don't know if it's leaking a tiny bit of water or it just the humidity. Personally I switched to an old school smoker http://www.champchoice.com/store/Main.a ... &item=CL20.

True, the masking tape works far better (blacker) than the spray-on stuff...way cheaper, too!
