USA Shooting - Position Statement on Coronavirus [COVID-19] and World Cup – New Deli, India
March 9, 2020, Colorado Springs, Colorado
The purpose of the memorandum is to ensure that the health and wellbeing of all USA Shooting Athletes [Junior and Senior levels] is our priority during the Coronavirus issue.

Since the beginning of February 2020, USA Shooting has been monitoring the situation by examining the information and data that has been made public by these following organizations:

World Health Organization [who.int]
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [cdc.gov]
International Olympic Committee [Olympic.org]
Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee [tokyo2020.org]
United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee [teamusa.org]
World Shooting Para Sport [Paralympic.org]
International Shooting Sport Federation [issf-sports.org]
Statista Infographics Bulletin [www.statista.com]
The Emergency Email & Wireless Network [emergencyemail.org]

After careful consideration and the presentation of information that we have been able to establish, USA Shooting has come to the decision to not attend the World Cup- New Deli, India scheduled for March 2020.

Additionally, the Olympic Test Event scheduled to take place in Tokyo, Japan April 15th is now cancelled.

Our philosophy of athlete centricity is at the core foundation of our existence. We will continue to monitor the situation and plan forward in preparation for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Sincerely,
Bob Gambardella, Interim Chief Executive Officer

Together with the Organizers we think that it is not acceptable to cause damage to the athletes and the officials.

Upon decision of Tokyo 2020 the Shooting Test Event is cancelled.
I'm feeling bad for the athletes who qualified to go to India, but...... best not to risk an illness at this point as the decision point comes for the IOC.

Just hoping we here in the US can get thru the rest of our Trials

Yes, terrible news. My heart goes out to the athletes and coaches who arrange their lives around this sport.

It is also sad that some use news like this to get on their high horse and politicize the situation. Trump lives in their head full-time, rent-free.

Like I said, rent-free, full-time. I guess President Trump will never make you happy until he sends a pallet of cash to a State Sponsor of Terrorism in the middle of the night or has an attorney general who allows prohibited gun sales to proceed so he can say American gun shops are arming Mexican drug cartels.

Gangsters in the 1920s here were breaking into government facilities stealing military weapons (machineguns) and we got the National Firearms Act of 1934. Gun control of civilians.

Fast and Furious was designed to prove that FFLs were selling guns to cartels. Anyone who knows anything knows that the military grade firearms in the hands of cartels were and are being stolen from Central American militaries and police agencies.

President Trump = protection of my gun RIGHTS

"President Trump = protection of my gun RIGHTS"

Someday maybe we can have a serious conversation about upside down priorities.

William, We’ll also get some Chinese Nationals to join us in that conversation. Without rights your priorities are chosen for you.

I know this is a US-based forum, but PLEASE understand this thread concerns questions of interest and worry to shooters from all over the world who are also members, so it would be a show of good manners to open a new thread to discuss your domestic politics all you want without derailing this.

Thank you

You are right. They are having trouble understanding good ol’ fashioned Jibber Jabber anyway so what’s the point.

actually, this thread is about a global pandemic, which most people of reasonable intelligence are worried about, that will impact everyone, and what is needed to fight it, that's the facts, and before it is over you'll be concerned about it too

And your (and other's) rantings about what your President said or didn't say is what must concern me now, in a country wher strict home quarantine is being enforced?

Please, stop looking at your navel.

You have proved that you haven't any .

Stressful times bring out the best in people... and the worst. It's beginning to show on this thread.

renzo,
William is trying to teach us the meaning of irony with his dissertation on stress since he and rbs can’t let a conversation go by without talking about their archenemy Donald J.
I think rbs just criticized you because you don’t have a bunker and a tin foil hat.
