Daisy 499 question

Post by AshleyGuthrie »

Hey guys I’m new to this forum so this may have already been discussed.... if so I apologize up front.

Is there anything that can be done to a 499 to soup it up so to speak.

My daughter is wanting to some extra special to her gun.

Anything to get extra FPS or any suggestions.

Thanks !

Be careful on the extra FPS ... there is a limit as to what is legal in the air rifle competitions .... usually 600 fps, which is probably WAAAAYYYYY too fast to shoot accurately anyway.

Do what I did with my girls guns .... take the action out of the stock and let them paint however they want....

I’m assuming you plan to head off to BB nationals with this. So:

1. custom paint, my daughter is a TCU fan so hers is purple with a white Horned Frog;
2. Leather sling, less slip and stretch than the nylon it comes with and don’t forget to condition it,
3. Match BBS or match ball bearings,
4. Weight it (we inlet the inside of the forearm and add lead custom lead weight and weight the butt stock then plug and seal the butt stock). You want it as close to 6 pounds as possible.

I replaced my daughter’s trigger with another factory one when we had problems and always have an extra shot tube.
