Alternative trigger for Steyr Evo etc

Post by cobbs »

The attached pic is a part of a screenshot from a Korean training video (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EP5C_3KiPpg) which teaches about trigger pull. At approx 3.10 mins in and at other points various close ups of the trigger are shown both for the Morini 162Ei and the Steyr Evo etc. The attached pic is part of that and shows an unusual trigger shoe being quite straight. I won't discuss the advantages or drawbacks but note the notch for the trigger weight check which appears higher than half way up the blade whilst the finger position is quite a bit lower which will give a considerable reduction in pull weight from that measured. Whilst this can apply I guess to any trigger blade, the standard Steyr issue has a pronounced curve (more so than Morini) which does not allow a straightforward contact lower down the pad. The one shown in the pic would still allow a straight back pull anywhere from the top to the bottom of the blade. Good idea me thinks...

Any idea where these might be obtained from? Scanned Korean shooting outlets (what I can find anyway) but to no avail. Might have to get the old Dremel kickstarted and create on myself perhaps.

Hello

I just purchased this trigger, see picture here: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn1CNoYFytv

It's called the Putter from Lottes Sport + Technik.

See details here: https://www.lottessporttechnik.de/produkte/putter/
Purchase here (towards bottom of page): https://www.lottessporttechnik.de/shop/

There is also a blue SE version which is angled. I think MEC Shot also sells it.

I like it. Seems easier to find the correct spot for my finger every time. I'm considering adding a couple of rubber bands to really fine tune the correct spot.

Downside is that it cannot be rotated, but I don't need that.

It also does not appear to work with Morini cm200

The aftermarket trigger being described looks very much like a very close copy of the Morini trigger.

Hello-

MEC/Centra markets this trigger, under their name. They told me, at least three years ago, that each one was handmade by one man, in his private shop. At that time the maker had stopped producing them. They were unsure if he was going to start making them again.

MEC/Centra currently shows the trigger available, for the Steyr. However, if you look closely at the photo it is of one cut for the Morini-

Buinger still shows the trigger available for the Steyr, FWB, and Morini. I would call or email them though, and ask about availability, before committing any money to them-

Kind regards,

Thanks for the input. Seems they are a little more available than I had thought.

Thats basically cheating, or at least not in the spirit of even competition, from the ISSF rules its clear that the mid-point of the trigger finger pad is the position to measure the trigger weight.

However for a flat trigger its not crystal clear, the rules need to catch up.

An interesting difference between this 'putter' blade (and also the Morini) which is not adjustable and the Steyr which is. The measurement point of the latter always moves as the shoe is repositioned vertically but the putter does not. Advantageous?

Agree 100%

ISSF EQ needs to be a bit smarter.

If you think of the entire trigger assembly under the frame as a lever, it looks like the notch is actually in the middle, so perhaps this is not cheating and trigger blades that adjust up and down offer a disadvantage.

The chickenshit protest would be see if the notch is used to index the weight at EQ check. Then photograph the finger location of the shooter and if it is anywhere other than centered on trigger notch, protest him for violating tbe equipment check by using a check location other than the center of the finger pad location.......

Neither actually fit with the letter of the current rules, although its clear to me the intent is the weight should be in the centre of the position the finger sits on.
The rules don't even currently cover a flat blade trigger, so are somewhat out of date.

What if you don't have a notch? You should be okay if you aim for about 1100g weight.

When with a curved trigger you weigh from the middle. You can still place your finger in the bottom of the trigger
