Steyr LP1 grip insert/spacer

Hi everyone

I recently removed the grip of my Steyr lp1, and I have a question about a metal insert that was positioned in the grip.
It is U shaped, approx 27mm long, 20mm wide and 2mm thick (see pictures). I can't see it on the exploded view of the LP1.
It's clearly different from the 'Distance plate' and the 'Rest plate' in the exploded view of the Steyr LP10.

Does anyone know if this is a standard part?
If so, how does it need to be positioned in the grip?

Thanks in advance

Our club LP 1 s have this part, no plastic spacer as on the LP10. The open part goes towards the front of the pistol, the gap/space is for the grip locking rod.

Thank you for your answer.
So the insert is completely in the back of the grip? Behind the metal rod?

I can't fit the grip in a comfortable position without it touching the sights, which make the gun shoot way to high. Does someone know if there are differences between Steyr grips from different generations in this regard?

It's not unheard of to have to carve grips a bit where the rear sight fits.

The problem can be made much worse if you are trying to shoot a center hold when the pistols was designed for a sub-6 hold.
