Do a eBay search for Varta V74PX BATTERY Alkaline
Morini also do a adaptor for button cells.

Most Morini dealers in can get them. Try our host Pilkinton Compition or Neal Stepp at ISS.

If Pilkington's doesn't have them in stock, you might try Neil Stepp at ISS. That's where I got mine and it works as advertised. http://www.iss-internationalshootersservice.com/

You can get by fine without an adapter but it helps if you have an old (dead) battery to begin with ; see this post...

Hi Gir1, A replacement battery is available on ebay for $9.99, which includes free shipping.

I'm not sure how much the Morini 15v button cell adapter costs; I'll bet it is more than $9.99.

Look here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/322040055120?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

The Exell batteries are very good. Better than the original Varta's in fact.

If you go the adapter route, the #389 batteries can be pricey. The best price I've found by far is McMaster Carr ($1.27 each):

If you go elsewhere, make sure you get #389 batteries, NOT #390. Some places claim they are interchangeable/equivalent. The chemistry of the #390 batteries is designed for long term low current applications like watches. The #389 is better for pulse applications like the CM 84. For example, Energizer & Duracell have "389/390" batteries, so you have to be careful. The Duracells are specified for "high drain" current, so should be OK. The Energizer version says it is designed for "continuous low drain," and probably won't work as well.

One additional tip: The Energizer data sheet shows that the shelf life of the button cells is VERY long (>10 years) if stored at 0C. if you find a good price, you can stock up & keep them in the fridge.
