Pistol shoes and size

Hello, I have question in regards to shooting shoes for pistol.

I shoot air pistol and I am thinking about purchasing a pair of shoes, and as I have never tried a pair or have the opertunity to do so I wonder if one orders ones regular size or slightly bigger, depending on thick socks etc.

Perhaps it is a rare question but I wanted to be sure just in case as I have no idea at all and this is new to me.

Dear Archangel'skiy:
From what little I know of your home, make sure you buy shoes large enough to accommodate two pairs of sox, one silk and one woolen.

A new pair of "penny loafers" works well. Traditional, too. (Really!)

If not this, then forget it.

The top tier shooters I know don't bother with this stuff.

You can have mine (Champions Choice, size Euro 43). Only wore them a couple of times. Don't like 'em. You pay shipping! I like my skateboard shoes.

Archangelsky:

The best shoes are flat sole.
World-class shooters wear the same shoes that weight lifters.

I already told you (above). Perhaps you didn't notice what I wear.

Top o' the line pellets didn't help you, did they?

Thanks alot for the replies so far everyone, I will see what I will do.

I have been browsing a bit online and had my eyes on the Corami pistol shoes, but now I will have another look at weightlifting shoes as someone suggested.

I will save a bit for whatever I will purchase so price wise it is ok if it is a little bit expensive as long as it is durable, I will of course only wear the shoes while shooting so I doubt there will be much wear and tear so I think that they will last long at least.

Corami or sauer. I'm happy with sauers. Shooting shoes arent very expensive considering that you can easily shoot 5 years with them. I use my shoes always when shooting AP.

I've taken a light tone in this thread, so I'll tell you what I discovered.

I asked Arnie Vitarbo (US Free Pistol National Record Holder for over 20 years) about shoes (we usually talk about Italian food recipes). I won't tell you what he said, but I WILL tell you that it was NOT "special shooting shoes."

If you want to experiment with flat soled shoes before dropping a bundle, try a pair of shower shoes from the 99 Cent Store.

Of course, if you cannot live without this item and feel it will cause a huge leap in your scores, go for it.

It isn't that you could not shoot well without proper shooting shoes. We're all seen many great shooters shooting with ordinary nike running shoes.

But with shooting shoes the balance is just phenomenal. Feeling to the ground is very robust, I think it makes a difference - not a big but still I'm ready to pay for the comfort they bring to shooting.

Rover, I wish I lived in your neck of the woods. I might not shoot better but I would laugh a lot more. Love your posts, some useful, some funny. Barry

Geezer - Noun: One of those five guys wearing sweat stained cowboy hats, worn flannel shirts, and scuffed cowboy boots, sitting in the local coffee shop every morning talking about what's biting and where. Thought by tourists to add local color to the Mom and Pop restaurant wherein they reside, but actually employees paid to enhance the customer experience.

This is a position to which I have aspired ever since I retired.

Surly curmudgeon - Noun: A professional geezer; see also Rover.

Looks like I have a ways to go.

Keep on keeping it real, Rover.

To William and assorted other geezers gathered here in his name: I wasn't kidding about the penny loafers. I shot my highest scores wearing them.

For women, I highly recommend the CFM shoes.

OK I'll get serious. I shot a 2700 today and lined up in a row were John Zurek, Stever Reiter, Tony and Brenda Silva, and ancient Renald Schilke. All were wearing running/exercise shoes, as were almost everyone else on the line (I was wearing my penny loafers).

Zurek and Brenda were the only two playing with the Interntional big boys, so I asked if they wore the "special shooting shoes" when shooting air or free pistol. Both said yes.

I asked both if they found them helpful/comfortable. Zurek said yes; that he would wear them all day, but he previously wore Converse. Brenda said they were hell on her feet, but were the least bit helpful. (Scant praise)

I guess you figured out that I personally wouldn't bother. But what the hell do I know.

William decided to just revert to his drug-crazed youth.
