'House of the Rising Sun' isn't Mozart. And all that finger on steel string squeaking and squawking, dang, that's just far too annoying to accompany something so meditative as AP shooting. By the way, did you know Wolfgang was an airgunner? Painted his own targets too. Darts, not pellets, and in fancy parlours not at shooting clubs, but who cares, he was an airgunner!

Did he shoot a SSP, as in the video?

The tune is also used for Amazing Grace.

Not an SSP. Slightly more demanding I suspect; a bellows rifle. Can't find a picture of the actual function of the bellows, but apparently works on the principle of a blowpipe in conjunction with a popgun, where a mechanical bellows hidden in an overly-large hollow wooden stock is used to compress the air and set the trigger then a V spring is used to release the air in a burst. Sounds awkward. But darts between 6mm and 10mm diameter were fired at something like 300fps, so rather respectable power.

Not quite. Amazing Grace is in a major key, not a minor like House of the Rising sun. Same rhythm pattern though.

Yes, that's true, but they sometimes use the same lyrics.

Our junior ar club meets on Thursday evenings at the local American Legion- banquet hall.

Well...after 7pm it's Karaoke night at the bar in the room next to the banquet hall. So you never know who will be singing or what they will <attempt> to sing! Its quite amusing some nights! We close the doors to block as much sound as possible- but the tunes (or lack thereof) still make it into the hall.

Each week someone <male voice> has to get on there and try to sing Ted Nugent's "Stranglehold"! That's an 8 minutes 26 seconds song with lots of bass. After all these weeks of hearing it, I'm almost ready to go sing it myself w/o the scrolling lyrics! Ha!

I'm not sure if this karaoke is good practice for 'tuning out' while shooting- or maybe a better finals training plan?!!? HA ha! Either way we have fun with it and are very grateful that the Legion allows us their banquet hall use! :)
