Steer LP50 trigger won't reset.

My LP 50 is approximately one year old. Today while practicing the trigger quit resetting. It works just fine With the blank firing adapter. But when I try to use the five shot Mag it fires and I have to cock it for each shot. The cylinders have plenty of air.

Could sure use some help fixing this. Has anyone experienced this problem before?

Thanks in advance for any advise.

Bill

Bill,

I don't feel qualified enough to answer this question but since no one else has offered anything I'll give you my opinion.

The only time my LP5 (CO2) doesn't reset is about 10 shots before I run out of gas. Before that happens the single shot magazine fails to extend completely after firing.

I'm not too familiar with the internal operation of the action but I suspect that the back pressure during firing is used to reset the action. This seems to fit with my experience and what you describe with the "blank adapter".

Some things to consider;
* Lower Ambient Temperature (It's December after all). I think this is unlikely as compressed air does not have the temperature sensitivity of CO2. Has the temperature of your range changed?
* Change in pellet size either diameter or weight. Anything that would reduce the resistance between pellet and barrel would reduce the back pressure used to reset the action. Have you changed pellets?
* Increased friction within the action. Possibly due to dust/debris. I don't believe lubricants are required for the action and would probably cause more problems if used. (Ask someone who knows more about the pistol, like our host.) Do you shoot a lot, could it be dirty? Have you mistakenly lubed it and the lube is gumming the action?

This could be something specific to the 5-shot magazine. How does it function with the single shot magazine?

Increasing the velocity would also increase the back pressure. However, I wouldn't make a change like that until I knew the reason why the gun was malfunctioning. Be careful (see http://www.targettalk.org/viewtopic.php?t=13221). If you decide to adjust the velocity, use a chronograph.

may be a trigger adjustment issue.
The aeron b96 is famous for this but maybe it can happen with the lp50/lp5 as well

Thanks everyone for the help. Ute marksman was correct with the cleaning suggestion. I cleaned it and it started working again.

Thanks again,
Bill
