I was dry-firing my Steyr LP10 as usual when immediately after one shot, I heard a small metal piece hit the floor. Pictures of the part are here http://imgur.com/a/uGdbm.

Does anyone know what part this might be and what its function is? My gun seems to be able to dry-fire normally though I haven't dried live-firing it. I had recently adjusted my trigger weight but not significantly.

Of course, it's possible its not even a part from the gun but I'm not sure where else it would have come from so I wanted to check on here if anyone had any thoughts. Thanks for any help in advance.

Does it shoot ok? Not only is the part broke in half it looks like it broke off something. Given your picture the inside diameter is 4.5 if you complete the arc. The only thing I see on the schematic that fits with that picture is the end of the barrel that fits into the casing/receiver. I'm not sure that's even possible, but I'd pull the barrel to check.

Thanks, Dave. Turns out it broke off of part 16, from the head of the screw. Image here http://i.imgur.com/gHDzsWQ.jpg?1. Not sure why this would have happened. Maybe the screw was too tight? You think it would be worthwhile to replace the screw? Thankfully, it seems like it doesn't have all that important a function, just serving as a pivot for part 15.

The metallurgy of the pivot screw was defective causing it to split. If I were you, I would contact Steyr explaining the situation including the pic. I bet they will send you the part free of charge.
