Thanks for the reply, Rutty!

I saw Tom's poster in the NSRA shop when I collected my pistol, but I didn't get a reply from him when I emailed him a couple of weeks ago.

I'll see if I can track down some contact details for Iqbal.

Both are fairly aloof. Easiest way to get Iqbal is through Facebook.

Grip customisation is not that difficult, what are you looking to do?

Thanks for the reply, Remmy.

I'm at a point where I think that my grip needs some work (e.g. while I can shoot reasonable groups on a good day, the group moves around between sessions), but have no experience of doing so myself. I'd prefer to pay for an expert's time to at least get me to a good starting point (and possibly learn something from that, too) rather than bodging the process myself. Does that make sense?

An air pistol grip is meant to be carved. Don't be afraid, or you will never change something if it doesn't feel right. For instance on my new LP10 I had to make an entire new palm shelf (flat, not wedges shaped like the original), with a divot for a bony spot on the bottom of my hand. It can adjust a little more, and it's in the process of getting carved up.

I presume you're being extremely careful to ensure that you're not creating something that can be interpreted as coming up the outside of the hand (however slightly).

I thought that's what I was going to see.

That is not legal because, from the bottom of the recess, it rises up towards the outside of the hand.

To make it legal you would need to remove wood from the area between the edge of the shelf and the bottom of the recess, at least parallel with the top of the shelf or sloping downwards.

It would probably be easier to just remove the whole back corner down to the level of the bottom of the recess.

Thanks for the reply, Tufty. I'm based in North London.

I've made an appointment to visit Iqbal Uhbi, so I'll see how I get on with that!
