I just watched the European Championship final 10m Air Pistol Men, and was very glad to see the Walther LP400 taking gold!
I've been struggling so much with mine, go get the right setup, that is a relief to see that it's all my fault ;)

final weapons used:
4x Lp400
1x Lp300
3x Steyr LP10

On the other hand I was surprised not to see the LP400 on the Women's final :/

Nice to see the gun do so well. Was someone holding it at the time?

The rumor has it the gun was using a German-manufactured shooter.

You make laugh! As I said, it's a relief to see that "I am the mistake", not the gun :D

Yes, but the Portuguese-manufactured team won gold... so there's always hope for all of us!

I am new, so forgive my ignorance about different models. How did electronic triggers do in that event? Is that something that's catching on? Is it expected to replace mechanical triggers in the near future?

Good question!
As far as I know, Walther doesn't have an electronic trigger for Air pistol (only the SSP .22lr).

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the German team athletes were trying out some new electronic triggers!
Walther is make an huge effort to gain some market in the shooting competition!

I get the impression (nothing more) that in general, at World level, it's a pretty even split between mechanical and electronic.

Certainly, at last year's World Cup Final (invitations to the best of the best), the AP60 final had 4 athletes using mechanical and 4 using electronic.

I believe that it's still at the stage where there is no clear advantage in one over the other. The "feel" of the trigger is just another factor in the mix when choosing the pistol that suits you best.

I tried to watch both the women's and men's finals, but just couldn't. The sound is so garbled it's just too frustrating. Video seems perfect... guess I'm just a stickler for sound, and this is off the charts bad, like the microphone was in the next room, some vague mumbling mixed up with random audience noise.

btw.
not only winner of the EM (Philipp Grimm), also 2nd (Damir Mikec) and 6th (Manuel Heilgemeier) shooting Walther.
Damir even shoots the old LP300.
And they have won the German Bundesliga (highest league) with their team that is sponsored by Walther and all shooters except for 2 are shooting Walther.

Althougt, I think they would have done it also with Steyr, Morini, Pardini or else...

and their trainer/ team captain (Rosner) was part of the lp400-development team.
