Scope rings for Trailside ???

Post by bachekermooni »

Will the 3/8" dovetail (vertical split) ones work? Do I need 11 mm ones?
I need to put in a red dot on a 6" model. AM not sure whether it will be a 1" or 30 mm one yet.

Thanks.

Yes 3/8 dovetail should work. Sometimes called "22 mounts".

Going with 22 rings will work but is a pain when you need to disassemble the gun. If your budget permits, consider a scope mount that attaches under the muzzle in place of a barrel weight:

Weigand doesn't make them anymore apparently but you can still buy them from Larry's Guns for about $150.

This gives you two, maybe three benefits over 3/8" rings:
1. Rail uses standard size rings (many more to choose from)
2. Returns much closer to zero when you remove this mount (with sight still attached) and put it back on...much faster too
3. Adds weight to the gun...this made the gun more stable for me but to each their own
