Post by smbore12 »

Does anyone know anything about a 1607 with x receiver in 2213 stock. And how good are they?

The 1607 is the precessor of the 1907 from the late '70s; match 54 action with a 26in barrel. The X at the end of the serial number is common to all 1600 rifles and is said to mean Experimental, and referring to the trigger and firing pin, which were redisgned from the older Match 54 rifles. It does not indicate a selected barrel, although 1600 barrels in general shoot well. The 1607 trigger (model 5071) is a two stage, and almost identical to the current model (5018), but the firing pin and spring are noticably different.

The 2213 was Anschutz first alu stock, and is now discontinued. It widely used, and as plenty of adjustment. However it is cast, and is more fragile than a machined stock (e.g. the 1918 Precise or Gruing RSIII); the 2213 has been known to snap at the wrist, although this is rare.

Tim,

I have used the same combination with success. You should be fine if the barrel is sound....
