Spotting 10m air pistol
In a non return target match, what is the most common means of spotting?

I cut an old pair of 10 x 50 binoculars in half (they weren't aligned well and too cheap to bother repairing), drilled and tapped the remaining frame ends for a couple of small bolts, and mounted a short aluminum plate to that. Drilled and tapped the plate middle to 1/4“ x 20tpi for my tripod and presto, pretty easy 10m AP spotting scope. I gave the other half with the focusing wheel to my kid for a telescope. Set focus on my half with some hot glue once focus was established by sliding the eyepiece.
At the club we have a hand retrieval thing and wheeling the targets back one turn is enough to see roughly where I shot so no real need for a scope.

10 Meter Spotting
You are correct. The matches at my club are sanctioned by the National Rifle Association of America, and their rules permit spotting scopes.madmull wrote:According to issf rules a spotting scope is forbidden for ap matches spotting scopes are only allowed from a distance of 25 meters
otherwise i would buy the cheapest one you can find

That's correct but under ISSF rules you'd be shooting on returners or electronics. I'd suggest a cheap scope rather than monocular personally as the scope can be tripod mounted for convenience and left 'on target', but both will do.madmull wrote:According to issf rules a spotting scope is forbidden for ap matches
