Front Aperture Modification

Post by dlinden »

Anyone with experience in cutting off the side bars on an adjustable front iris? The size I want doesn't come in a circle only configuration.

Is the iris set into glass? On some irises, the side bars are what holds up the iris.

He may have an eagle eye. Alternatively, just a large element. Back when I shot with a 12in tube on a 27in barrel I had a 5.7mm element. It;s now 26 = 6 with a 4.8mm.

I have a 27" barrel and want to try a tuner/extension tube, but I am also using a plus diopter in the front sight. With that sight radius, you need an aperture greater than 6.0. I don't write the laws of physics, just follow them.

Learned today that Gehmann is now selling a larger adjustable diopter that doesn't have the side bars. It is just a circle.

If you know what size you need, Centra makes fixed apertures mounted in clear plastic for 18mm and 22mm. Less expensive than the variable and they don't break. Mike barron
