I'm in the process of gathering info for a purchase of a gun for smallbore prone use only. I'm curious to hear you guy's thoughts on the comparison of the G & E RSIII stock vs the Anschutz Precise stock.

Thanks in advance. I appreciate your help.

Precise is cheaper.

With the latest Black II cheekpiece, the RSIII has more asjustments than Precise. Both the cheekpiece and the grip can be turned around the barrel axis.

The current RSIII iteration is compatible with all Anschutz actions as well as Bleiker and Racer, without modifications. It is also compatible with G+E 300m actions. So if you see 300m shooting in your future, and want the same ergonomics in both disciplines, RSIII is ideal. Precise needs to be machined to fit non-Anschutz actions.

RSIII has embedded rubber balls which some believe help the vibration characteristics of the rifle.

G+E also produces a variant of RSIII without the rubber balls, called XRS, that is significantly cheaper. The only adjustment that this stock lacks is the ability to offset the bottom rail to the left side, which can be compensated for with a good handstop. It also doesn't support repeating centerfire actions like RSIII does. One advantage that it does have over the other two is the built-in sliding weight system inside the fore end. Balance tuning is a big thing among top shooters.

Get some quotes and decide what your priorities are. I have the RSIII and couldn't be happier. Others will report the same with Precise. But don't write off G+E just because of the perceived high price. G+E have been trying to move downmarket and now offer more economic products.
