Fitting new sights to Anschutz match 54 rifle

Post by AlexE »

Can i fit an Anschutz Model 6834 diopter sight set to an Anschutz Match 54 smallbore? Would I need any adapters or sight blocks? If so what type or size of blocks.

The answer is yes, and no.

Anschutz have never changed the receiver dovetail, so the 6805 rearsight will fit an Anschutz Match 54 of any age (models 1407, 1408, 1409, 1410, 1411, 1413, 1607, 1609, 1610, 1611, 1613, 1807, 1809, 1810, 1811, 1813, 1907, 1909, 1910, 1911, 1912, 1913, 1914, 1918, and the 2007, 2012, and 2013).

The foresight is different. This is designed to fit an 11mm dovetail cut into the muzzle; all 1900 and 2000 rifles have this style mount, but not the older 1400, 1600, and 1800 rifles. These have a small dovetail block screwed onto the muzzle*. The 6832 foresight will technically fit (the dovetail is wide but shallow), but it will sit much higher than the correct 6522. You may need a 4mm raiser block under the rearsight to retain a normal elevation range.

Tim

*1400 rifles made up to 1964 the dovetail was cut into a raised swell on the muzzle.

Don't menton it.

For a Match 54 rifle (i.e. one with a screw-on foreesight mount), you amy be better off getting the correct second hand foresight. These often turn up on ebay, and the usual anschutz retailers may have some laying around.
