Stainless steel barrels
About two years ago I purchased an Anschutz 2013 smallbore rifle from Champions Choice. Although overall I have been happy with this rifle, I've heard that the stainless steel barrels are not as accurate and are a little more picky with what ammo they'll shoot well. I don't have 8-10 weeks to send my rifle to a testing center, so I'm wondering if it makes more sense to just invest in a new barrel. What kind of barrel will work well with this rifle? Furthermore, does anyone know why anschutz discontinued the stainless steel barrels?
I don't think there is anything inherently less accurate with stainless steel. Look at how many custom barrel makes use stainless steel. These are the same stainles custom barrels that Bleiker and Grunig use.
However Anschutz didn't make that many stainless barresl, so perhaps they had problems.
If you are going to replace the barrel, unless you are planning to get a complete new barrel/action, most replacement match barrels will be stainless steel.
