For air rifle?

For 50m smallbore?

For 300m Big bore? 300m Standard?

I've just had a look at the ISSF rulebook, and cannot see any restriction on the distance between the rearsight and the butt. This is usually dependent of the height/arm length/neck length/eye relief of an individual shooter. If you are taller, normally the butt is longer, so the rearsight is further from the shoulder.

For 10m air rifle here is a maximum sight radius (distance between frontsight and rearsight) of 850mm, which will affect how far back the rearsight can go. But this appears to to be it.

Why do you ask?

@tim s the 850mm is related to the length of the system; barrel plus action. The sightline is no part in this. A second rule prohibits any part of the front sight over the barrel. There are no rules for the location of the diopter on the action.

The reason is ,the distance between rear site (from where we see) to butt which we put on our shoulder is quite lengthy for me , it was creating pain in neak, so i came to conclusion that i need to reduce the length by cutting the back part( it does not have adjustment like standard air rifles), that is why i was asking what is the minimum allowed length from rear site to end of air rifle, which we put on our shoulder.

yours sincerely.

I see, if the butt is too long, yes shortening it is preferable to compromising the body position.
