Jacket alterations

Post by Victory506 »

Any ideas on where to get a shooting jacket altered in the PA area? I have a Monard jacket that is too boxy in the lower back and needs to be tailored. Everone says go to the Amish but the shops I've visited do harness work and chap alterations only - they will hem shooting pants and move zippers, but don't do any actual tailoring.

Look for a combination of shoe and leather repair. I finally found a shop here in St. Louis that will do repairs and alterations to our jackets. Mike Barron

Jacket Alterations

A second on Mobarron's reply. I have a leather shop (coats, vest, handbags etc.) near me here in southern Vermont. The woman who owns it has done alterations on several of our smallbore team members jackets. Leather shops that actually make their products have machines beefy enough to handle a shooting jacket and usually the skill to do proper alterations.

Where in PA? I have sources near me. Try the Amish if any are near you.
