Disassembling a 1911

How do you remove the ambidextrous style of safety on a 1911? Is the method something other than the regular "pull out from the left side" that you use on Mil-Spec 1911 style safeties?

I place a very thin blade under the right side of the ambi safety and remove the right side which is friction fit. Then I remove the left side in the normal manner.

You must remove the right grip panel to remove thr right side of the safety on most.
