Shoulder Surgery

After dealing with years of pain in my right (shooting) shoulder I have to finally get it fixed. The issue is a deteroriated AC joint which is a small joint connected to the clavical by the acromin bone. Seems the common fix is to just remove a section of the bone and let scar tissue reconnect the two ends thus relieving the pressure on the deteroriated AC joint.
It does not seem, at least based on the online "experts", to impare the patient after it is healed other than some loss of bench press strength type movements.
My question to the forum members is 1) has anyone had this surgery and 2) how does the two loose bone ends affect your ability to shoot rifles? Mostly I shoot .22 LR target type guns but have been known to touch off a 577/450 Martini Henry from time to time.
According to my surgeon, I should not shoot for a minimum of 5 months from the date of surgery but after that play it by ear and pain level. He "thinks" I should be ok but he has no experience to draw from since he does not know if he had any "shooter" patients.
