Sight sets for grooved front sight versus older base

On Champion's Choice and Champion Shooters they list a few sight sets for "1900/2000" models. Is that because of the grooved front sight versus an older rifle with traditional sight base? I have an older Match 54 without a grooved front barrel that has a traditional sight base on it. Will the "1900/2000" sight sets work on my older base?

The newer foresights fit a 1400-1800 base. But the tunnel will sit noticeably higher than the correct. Older foresights won't fit on a 1900-2000 barrel.
