I am off to Europe in a few months for a holiday - mainly Italy, France and Germany (also touring great Britain). Will be over there for about 12 weeks. Has anyone any info or advice on must see shooting locations, factory visits, contacts, experiences etc. - basically anything ISSF shooting related that would be of interest. Any and all tips most appreciated.

There's the Olympic Range, HSG Shooting Club, and the Hunting and Fishing Museum in Munich. In Coburg in the Palace Callenberg is the Rifle Museum. Mauser has a nice museum in Oberndorf. Theres a few in Southern Germany.

When are you leaving?

Places I would visit would include Bisley in the UK, the Royal Armouries at Leeds, and the major factories in Germany and Italy.

http://www.dsb.de/english/events/ is a list of the major European events. Major ones include:

World Cup, London - April
World Cup, Lonato, Italy - May
World Cup - Milan, Italy - May
Olympic Games in late July/early August
and the 25th World Muzzle-Loading championsihps in Pforzheim, Germany in mid-August.

Contact the Factories, Walther at Ulm will certainly allow visits by arrangment subject to how busy they are, contact the customer services by phone. Their private museum is worth going to Europe for.
Every town and most villages in Germany and Austria has a good shooting club (schutzengilde) where you will be welcome, most in Wurtenburg/Allgau area, Southern Germany, will have contact with the manufacturers in the area, Walther, Anschutz, FWB and is a good route into getting factory visits.
Have Fun.
