Winter fun shooting - AP

Post by philip_T »

It was brought up in the target rifle post, fun shoot. So what is it
that the pistol shooters do for fun, (shooting games only please).
After a 60 - 80 shot practice (10 meter), I like to Run a B16 slow fire
pistol target out to 25 yards with a 3 inch "Shoot - n - See" paster
in the center. Crank up the sight and try to keep all shoots in the
black and preferably on the paster. It is fun to see the yellow pop out
when the pellet hits. Usually 20 shots per paster and 2 or 3 times.
IZZY 46 M and 9 clicks up.

I bought myself a Webley Tempest in perfect condition. European 'F' model so not hugely powerful, but I'd guess around 400fps. I'm shooting on the same targets as with my 46m, but the main points are trying to keep my groups in the black and trying to get a handle on consistent grip with this jumpy little pistol. Heck of a weird rotational/rearward recoil on the thing. I'll be plinking along quite well, bit of a shotgun spread throughout the black, then my focus lapses and BAM there's a hole way up in the top right of the white. It's fun in the sense that it's taking me back to where I was when I started shooting 10m AP a year ago. With effort I might be able to keep them all in the 8 ring with this cute little gun. Oh... and it was my (slightly early) Christmas present to myself.
