Hammerli 208 vs International

OK all you Hammerli lovers out there (Spencer?), what if anything is the difference between the Hammerli 208, the 208s and the International?

Actually, it's really the International that I'm wondering about. I think I understand the 208 to 208s changes.

Did the International come before the 208 or after?

I have a 208 International. Compared to the 208s the trigger guard is different, the extractor is different, and the trigger is single stage and not two-stage.

Does your 'International' have '208' marked on the pistol - mine does not but I seem to remember that '208' is on the original packaging (somewhere amongst the mens secret stuff stored (?) in the garage)

Everything from the 201 to the 208 just has "International" on it. I think only the 215 are designated as such.

The one that I'm asking about, just has International on it, it's not marked 208. Sorry not box to check. But as far as I can tell it's exactly like a 208.

So, am I correct in assuming that it's the same pistol as a 208 (pre 208s) just marked differently?

So, are you saying that with the exeption of the 215, all Pre 208s pistols were not marked 208 etc., just International?

My wife had a 208 then a 208s some years ago and I thought that the 208 was marked as that (but I will admit my memory is faded!).

I can't remember a 208 (or earlier model) that actually had the model number on it. There were several "models" where the only difference (e.g. 204 vs. 205) was the grip, or the rear sight, or something like that. I even think (although I'd have to check) that the 208S was not marked as such. The only one I'm sure that it had the model number on the gun is the 215.

If you're looking at a 208, check the design of the trigger. There were at least three different version BEFORE the 208S, all of them sold as "208". And the earliest version is basically the same gun as a short barreled 206. The vast majority of "International" Hammerlis on the market are 208, so anything else would surprise me. If you have doubts, send me the serial number and I can check with the literature I've got.

It says "International" on the slide and "208" on the box. The serial number is in the "G" series.
