Shrinking the hold

Post by WesternGrizzly »

Just curious, what do you do to shrink your hold (in standing and Air rifle)? Has any one thing helped the most?

I don't shoot standing rifle but it's similar in many aspects to pistol. Some factors that will help improve hold, include exercise, core stability and light physical exercise, balance training, getting a better position. So for rifle if you involve too much muscle and soft tissue in holding the position steady instead of bone to bone.

Fire at a blank target, focusing entirely on being consistent in your breathing rhythm, your attention to your inner position and your trigger control. If you keep doing that, your hold will get very, very small. Add in an aiming mark after a good while of doing this and start working on a solid natural zero position before firing any more live shots and it'll get very good indeed.
