Are there any TOZ 49 revolvers for sale in the US? I would really like a .32 S&W Long revolver. I have a couple of Model 14's that might be convertible by a gunsmith. If I could track down a >32 cylinder or a .22 cylinder and put on a custom barrel it might work well. I have a nice Bo-Mar rib that could be skeletonized and put on top. Any ideas would be great. I don't want one of the 16-4's in .32 H&R magnum, and a real 16-1,2,3 are about $3000.00+++

I'm sure that some shooters prefer other guns, but reviling the TOZ 49 seems a bit harsh ...

Sorry I really did mean to say revolver, and I corrected my spelling, but it didn't take. Oh well.....

I too rediscovered revolvers several years ago. I now have a S&W 35, 14, 15 and 25. I really enjoy shooting them.

Consider using a .38 special instead of a .32 Long revolver. A .38 special is easier to reload cartridges, has many more bullets available than .32 bullets, and it can be loaded using 115 or 120 grain bullets to recoil similar to that of a .32.

Unless you are a collector, a .38 Sprcial better than a .32 for target work here in the USA.

Yes, I would love to have a TOZ 49 or Korth or Manhurin. But in the USA a K-38 Smith & Wesson are such a bargan and much easier to feed.

Toz 49 is not .32 S&W Long, it's 7.62x26 (Nagant short).

Yes I know that the TOZ 49 is in 7.62 Nagant Short, but many have been converted to .32 S&W Long. Many also come complete with dies and brass to reload the Nagant round. I just don't know if any are in the USA at all.

I've seen TOZ revolvers in .32 S&W, don't know if they were type 49, but IMHO came from the factory like that. OTOH, why not go directly for a Manurhin...

There was a Toz 96 in .32S&W long shown in the Frankonia Jagd catalogue in the early 1990s.

But, I wasn't sure if it ever made it to the market.

I've converted one (Toz 49) to .32S&W long. I sleeved the chambers in the cylinder and stepped the barrel back 2mm (2 full turns of the thread). It shot well in the machine rest but I couldn't shoot it as well as I could my GSP.

They need to be pushed hard to shoot straight, 100gr flat or bevel based wadcutter, 800fps min.

Or the 90gr Lee tumble lube semi-wadcutter works ok.

Don't waste time trying to get HBWC to work.

A 1:18 barrel does not work well when a 1:10 is what is needed, and many of them had rubbish forcing cones from the factory.

An option a smart guy pointed out to me for the Toz49 is to rechamber for .32 magnum, cut the case back to 26mm and you don't need to step the barrel back.

.32 mag brass is easily available.
