First of all, I apologize for my English because I speak not only read it a little.
I want to buy a front sight iris. I have not decided between the Gehmann 536 and the Anschutz 9760 (or its equivalent in Centra). Some guidance?
Is for smallbore
Thank you very much.

I guess it depends what you want it for, or rather what you want from it.

I have a gehman adjustable foresight iris, mine doesn't thicken it just opens / closes - between something like 3mm to 4.5mm. That's for use on a 'normal' Anschutz rifle for prone - i.e. no extension tubes etc.

I like the one I have and it looks good to me (through my eyes), so I'm pleased with it. I can't however comment on the Anschutz but descriptively it sounds the same.

I personally have a gehmann front glass iris, with a range of 2.9 to 4.9. I got that size range because it seemed the most logical, no one uses a 2.4 (which goes up to 4.4) but having a 4.9 allows a lengthy extension tube ( although i do not use a bloop tube). My brother has an anschutz adjustable clear iris, and there is virtually no difference between that one and the gehmann. I would not recommend the cheaper no glass iris. Although my brother uses one on his air rifle (and it works great) the crossbars are in my opinion rather obnoxious and large as opposed to the small built in cross hairs in an anschutz front sight. Personally, I would go for the most logical size range, and then go based on price.

Ok. Thank you very much for your responses. I ordered the Anschutz 9760, with clear glass aperture and adjustable 2.8 - 4.8 mm inner and 6.4 - 9.0 mm outer.

Regards.

Frankly, I'd go with the Gehmann. I have a broken Anschutz front iris and e-mailed Anschutz asking where to send it. They sent me a complete list of all Anschutz retailers in the US. On the other hand I asked Gehmann for help on a Gehmann product and they e-mailed back telling me to send it in to them. Mike Barron
