I am going to shoot the Nationals and was wondering if there was anything for the family to do in Columbus while I was shooting. Or are they just going to be bored and I would be better off having them come down after.

30 years ago there was a Six Flags amusement park on the west side of Atlanta which is not that far a drive.

Thanks Jack, the kids love going to the science center here in St.Louis and that looks like a good place to start. Now all we need to do is find some fireworks.

To awnser the first response my kids are 8 year old boy/girl twins and right now their interests are arguing over anything and everything they can!

This isn't too far away. I went there over 40 years ago and had fun. http://www.callawaygardens.com/ Robin Lake Beach was where we spent most of our time.

I just moved about an hour north of Columbus 3 weeks ago... there's also a "safari park" at Pine Mountain:

and I believe they're doing rafting through Columbus on the Chattahoochee.

The amusement park is still out west of Atlanta, and in downtown Atlanta you have an Aquarium, the CNN building, Coke World, perhaps a baseball game, etc... ~ but Atlanta is 2~3 hours of driving, one way.

There is also the National Infantry Museum there at Fort Benning that they can check out. Our family enjoyed it very much last year.

We are not going this year. Our daughter's team qualified for 3P JO's so we are headed to Camp Perry.

I second the idea of the National Infantry Museum. Your kids could shoot on the simulation firing range and they have an IMAX theater within the museum with some great 3D movies playing which are reasonably priced: http://www.nationalinfantrymuseum.org/imax.cfm
