Who makes mounts for this gun besides Knapp? I have read of a DR-100 but have no idea what it is or where it comes from.

OK. How does one get a hold of Knapp. The number on their web site (knappent.com) is incorrect. And I have not had a response to my email.

Black Machine and Engineering. See http://www.bme-mounts.com/productlist.html

I doubt there are many options for a pistol that has been out of production as long as the Hammerli 208.

I had mine grooved to take tip-off mounts.

I was told by the lady that answered at the number above that Knapp is no longer in business.

Talk to either Larry's guns or RoCo. They are the Hammerli importers and will be able to answer your questions and direct you to what you need.

Thanks. I ended up calling Roco. Doris is great to work with.

Doris, and Roland are great people. They come to Perry every year and will totally clean and tweek your Hammerli for forty bucks. Just turn it into them right after rimfire. (That may go up with inflation, but still a great deal)

I had one that needed some work. They took it back to Texas with them to fix it and when I got it back it looked like a brand new gun, and the repair and shipping was only about 60 bucks more than the cleaning.

Have mounted many scopes in this fashion on 208/215's and the AW-93's.

I use Leupold low rings which makes it easy to remove and re-install for cleaning etc.

Well, after having people watch why I am getting so many FTEs (spents hitting the back of the mount), my local GS is lopping off the end of the mount - almost to the edge of chamber. He is also putting in a new mounting slot at the front. For some reason the new design of Knapp-style mounts lacked enough mounting points up front. I will have PICs and report on Tue eve when I get the modified mount.

I also bought an Aimpoint Micro R-1 just in case the MatchDot re-mount puts too much weight up front - live and learn.

An option using Roddy's mount is to place two Leupold rings on the front with the Ultradot extension. I like the balance this way better.

Another add to the 208 can be an anti slide bite beavertail thingy.

BME HAM208-R for Hammerli 208S

This scope mount appears to allow for the greatest flexibility in positioning your scope (fore or aft) for proper balance. Does anyone use this mount? Is it easy to install and remove. Does installation effect the finish or otherwise show wear? What about return to zero after removal and reinstallation? Your comments on your experience would be appreciated.
