Clear Barrel Indicators

I am shooting in my first AP match Saturday. Do I need to bring a CBI? If so, can I just cut a piece of weed wacker line that is longer than my barrel? Does it have to be any special color?

A piece of line is the standard. It must be the exact shade of my eyes after a 3 day drunk.

At my club we just give them away.
