I just sold two model 65's and one person kept bugging me about price and I noticed an FWB model 90 for nearly the same price-which I thought was a much more sought after gun than the model 65. I showed him where it was
He said wasn't interested at any price because you can't get the trigger parts if something goes wrong or whatever for it. I sold both of mine and was just wondering if he was correct.
I don't even know if the 90 ever sold.
One thing I noticed is that whenever I get one of these pistols I go through pellets like crazy. I have had about three model 65's and two model 80's and although they are not like the top target guns today they are astonishingly accurate and in some cases equal to a pcp at 10 meters.
I was thinking of getting the 90 but not now.

I recently bought a 90 - and love it.

There seems to have been a fair bit of concern over the electronic triggers.

When I received mine the pistol wouldnt fire and I spent a week playing with it to get it working(could well have largely been down to luck).

In laymans terms the handle contains a small printed circuit board and battery - my understanding is that the battery charges up a capacitor(1000MFD 16v) on the PCB and when the trigger is tripped the charge from the capacitor energises a solenoid set in front of the trigger and this in turn trips the sear lever.

The batteries are reputed to last for many months but do eventually run low on charge and fail - they are not easy to get but are obtainable on the internet.

I understand the capacitors can fail but apparently this is fairly rare. I dont know if they are obtainable (none at FWB) but it was suggested to me that a new capacitor could probably be soldered in place of the failed one(by a suitably skilled micro electrician!!!)

The most common problem, I am told, is that the solenoid gets dirty and inefficient. I think this was largely my problem - I gave it a careful clean with carburetter cleaner and this loosened the striker. Again FWB no longer stock the solenoid but it is possible a failure might be repaired/replaced??

The 90's dont seem to come up very often and people do seem to fight shy of them.

At a reasonable price if you bear the foregoing in mind I would certainly give it consideration

My FWB90 has been very reliable. The battery can be found at Batteries Plus for about $7. It is old tech and a bit nose heavy, but shoots quite well. Mine chronographs @ 420fps with R10 lights. SD of less than 5fps. Not bad for a 30 year old AP.
