What setup is used to check air pistols ?

I've used a Combro to check mine. http://www.chronoscopes.com/

It does need a little work to get it to fit on a Steyr LP10 though.

I've also used an Gama Master from these people http://www.shootingchrony.com/ but it takes more setting up and is very fussy of lighting levels.

In the U.K. we can also buy Skan chronographs which I use at the club. No problem with light levels on these units.

There are a number of models out there, and it depends on what answer you're looking for and what level of accuracy in the data you want.

So for batch testing pellets, or checking between shot consistency you want good data to work out a CV% and if that's what you're doing, compare between batches (although group size is obviously the most important factor). If you think your gun is under or over powerful then perhaps a less accurate chrono is fine. That said most clubs seem to have one in their cupboard, or if not one or more shooters have their own.
